1. Can I see the Northern Lights all year round?
In Lapland, the Northern Lights are visible from mid-August to mid-April, when the nights are dark enough.Although the aurora occurs year-round, it cannot be seen during summer because of the Midnight Sun, when the sky stays bright 24 hours a day.
2. Which date and what time is best to see the Northern Lights?
Northern Lights forecasts are only accurate 1 to 3 hours in advance, and weather in Lapland
can change quickly. We monitor both cloud cover and aurora activity throughout the day
to choose the best departure time and location.
We recommend booking your preferred date early and letting us know your full stay in Rovaniemi. Based on conditions and availability, we can help adjust your booking to aim for the best possible night.
3. Is the intensity, color, and size of the Northern Lights always the same?
Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee the intensity, color, or scale of the Northern Lights, as they are a natural phenomenon. Sometimes they fill the sky with vibrant movement, while other times they appear as a faint white arc, only visible through the camera.
4. Does the KP index tell me if I will see the Northern Lights?
Not exactly. The KP index is only one of many factors and does not guarantee visibility.
In Lapland, it is possible to see the aurora even with a KP as low as 0 or 1, as long as the sky is dark and clear. This is why we monitor several real-time indicators to choose the best time and location.
5. How long does the Aurora Photography Expedition last?
The Aurora Photography Expedition typically lasts between 3 to 10 hours, depending on weather conditions and aurora activity. The duration includes transportation and stops for photos. If clear skies are nearby, the tour may finish earlier. Our main goal is always to give you the best possible chance to see and capture the Northern Lights!
General Information
1. What should I wear for winter experiences?
We recommend dressing in warm, layered clothing suitable for Arctic conditions.Thermals, an insulated jacket, and snow boots are ideal. Don’t forget gloves, a warm hat, and extra socks for comfort.
A small tip: wearing shoes one size larger with thick wool socks gives your feet room to stay warmer.
Additional winter gear may be provided depending on the tour type.
2. Are the tours suitable for beginners?
Absolutely!
Our tours are designed for all experience levels, so whether you’re a seasoned explorer
or trying this for the first time, our guides will make sure you feel safe and enjoy the journey.
Please note that some tours may not be suitable for children under 7 years old due to cold temperatures and winter hiking conditions.
4. What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is our top priority. In the event of severe weather, we may need to cancel or reschedule the tour. You will be notified in advance, and we offer flexible rebooking
or full refunds for weather-related cancellations.
6. Can I book a private tour?
Yes, private tours are available upon request. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply want a more personalized experience, we are happy to tailor the adventure to your needs.

7. Is transportation included in the tour?
Yes, transportation is included for most of our tours, with pick-up and drop-off provided
within 10 km of Revontuli Rovaniemi city center. If you're staying farther away,
extended transport can be arranged upon request for an additional fee.
8. Do you provide food or snacks during the tours?
Some tours include beverages and snacks. For private experiences, we can arrange a meal
or additional refreshments upon request. Please inquire during booking.
9. What if I need to cancel my booking?
Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 48 hours before the tour.
For cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled time, a fee may apply.
